Bloomfield And Akurang Join Billericay Town
Billericay Town manager, Craig Edwards, has added two new players to his team and allowed Harry Baker and Lewis Manor to exit the Isthmian League club.
6’4″ striker Mason Bloomfield, joins from Vanarama National League South side Chelmsford City on a dual registration deal.
Bloomfield was formerly at Dagenham & Redbridge and is defined as a strong and pacey footballer who’s going to add good competition for places at Ricay.
Also brought in is the greatly seasoned Cliff Akurang, who in recent times was player-manager at Ryman Division One North club Heybridge Swifts.
Akurang, who can play as both centre-back or a striker, began his professional footballing career while on the youth books at Chelsea and Luton Town whilst also having experience with Barnet playing in the Football League where he scored 10 time between 2008 and 2010 in forty-five appearances.
His transfer to Barnet took place soon after helping Dagenham & Redbridge to promotion into the Football League over the 2006/07 season which caught the interest of the Bees.
Within the non-League arena Akurang has scored goals for a number of clubs including Thurrock, Hitchin Town, Braintree Town, Chelmsford, Bishop`s Stortford, Histon, Boreham Wood, Leiston, Boreham Wood and Maldon & Tiptree.
