National League Betting Preview Saturday 9th December 2017

It’s a full week of National League fixtures after a reduced list last week with the FA Cup taking centre stage. We take a look at some of the key fixtures.

Macclesfield vs WrexhamLive Game Odds
The National League fixture list starts with a cracker which is televised on BT Sport at lunchtime. Two sides battling it out for promotion meet in Cheshire with Macclesfield hosting Wrexham. It’s a repeat of the fixture which was staged on the opening day of the season which saw the Silkmen win 1-0. They are 21/20 with 888Sport to do the double over their visitors.

Wrexham have improved since that display which saw them narrowly beaten at the Racecourse and bounced back from that shock defeat to Aldershot with a 2—0 over Maidenhead last weekend. They have been priced at 13/5 with Paddy Power to avenge that result at the beginning of August.

It was a tight and cagey affair when they met four months ago and neither side have given much away this season. It might be a high scoring game so Under 2.5 Goals looks a decent option at 8/13 with Boylesports.

Aldershot vs HalifaxLive Game Odds
Aldershot were unable to find a way past a stubborn Torquay outfit last weekend as they pushed and probed but were unable to unlock the Gulls backline. They should have a much easier job against leaky Halifax and they have been priced as 1/2 favourites with Bet365 for this clash.

The West Yorkshire side are slipping down the table at an alarming rate and their generous defending is certainly not helping their cause. Injuries have hampered their progressed as well and they picked up another couple of casualties against Barrow at the weekend. They have been priced up at 5/1 by Betfair for this clash.

If Halifax aren’t careful, Aldershot could run riot and grab a few goals here. Boylesports have priced Over 2.5 Goals up at 20/23 for this clash.

Barrow vs DagenhamLive Game Odds
Ady Pennock says he takes his hat off to his Barrow players following their 1-0 win on the road at Halifax. The former Forest Green boss has certainly made a difference since arriving in Cumbria and the players appear to be running through brick walls for their new boss. The hosts are the 15/8 outsiders for this clash with Betfred.

Dagenham’s away form is still in need of improvement with just two wins from 11 and John Still’s men will need to work on their travelling form if they are to secure a return to the Football League. They are 23/18 with 888Sport to claim just their third away win of the season.

With both sides playing well, this could be an entertaining affair and Barrow are certainly playing with more confidence. Both Teams to Score is priced at 4/6 with Paddy Power.

Boreham Wood vs AFC FyldeLive Game Odds
Both of these sides were in FA Cup action last weekend but return to the National League in Hertfordshire. Boreham Wood were easily swept aside at Coventry and there was no repeat of their heroics from the previous round. They have been in decent form over the past few weeks and are 21/20 with Betfred to prevail here.

AFC Fylde will be riding a crest of a wave following their second half comeback to secure a reply with Wigan. Mill Farm and the BBC witnessed Danny Rowe’s equaliser from the penalty spot and they arrive into this fixture in good spirits. They are 5/2 with 888Sport to snatch an away win.

The Lancashire side kept a clean sheet surprisingly at Aldershot a few weeks ago and will be tough to break down once again. The aforementioned Rowe is in red hot form and is 7/4 with Bet365 to net again during the 90 minutes.

Chester vs Solihull MoorsLive Game Odds
There appears to be still plenty of work to do for Marcus Bignot at Chester following his appointment but this looks like a decent opportunity to get some points on board. They are without a win in any of their last five games and conceded four at home to Dagenham last time out. They’ve been priced up at Evens with Paddy Power for this tie.

Solihull Moors are now managed by Mark Yates and he’s already made his mark with four points from a possible six since his arrival. The former Cheltenham boss will be hoping to claim a second successive victory here which would take them above their hosts in the table. They are 13/5 with Bet365 to do so.

The Midlands outfit have conceded just one goal in their last two games and kept a rare clean sheet against Leyton Orient last time out. Under 2.5 goals is 3/4 with Betfair.

Dover vs HartlepoolLive Game Odds
Dover’s recent form has taken a nosedive and the Kent side will be hoping to get back to winning ways here at home. They are without a win in four but they did mount an impressive comeback against Bromley last weekend to take a share of the spoils. They are 10/11 with Betfred to claim their first victory since the beginning of November.

Hartlepool remain a hugely inconsistent outfit and are hard to get a handle on. The North Easterners remain in mid-table and have lost three of the last four. Craig Harrison’s men are capable of springing a surprise and have won eight times this season. They are 11/4 with Paddy Power to get back to winning ways.

Kane Richards netted one of the two goals for Dover last weekend and he is 6/4 with Bet365 to make it two in two for the hosts.

Eastleigh vs BromleyLive Game Odds
Boss Richard Hill admitted his side are in a relegation battle and their recent form is giving them sleepless night. Eastleigh have been hugely inconsistent and have won just five times in their first 23 games. They were beaten 2-0 by Sutton last weekend and they need to bounce back here. The Spitfires are priced at 11/10 with Paddy Power.

Bromley have been in decent form but will be kicking themselves after relinquishing a 2 goal lead against Dover last week. They will be aiming to be harder to break down this time around. The visitors are a juicy looking 2/1 with Betfair to heap yet more misery on their beleaguered hosts.

Both sides have been fairly unreliable at the back in recent weeks and defensive mistakes could be the order of the day here. Over 2.5 Goals is priced at 4/5 with Boylesports.

Ebbsfleet vs GuiseleyLive Game Odds
Ebbsfleet got back to winning ways two weekends ago beating Hartlepool 3-0 although they are believed to be eyeing up more firepower. They had lost their previous two matches and will have enjoyed a week off. A refreshed Fleet are the 3/5 favourites with Bet365 here.

After an initial improvement in results under Paul Cox, Guiseley have slumped to three consecutive defeats and they remain firmly entrenched in a relegation battle. They are not fancied to bounce back on their travels here and are 4/1 with Betfair.

Although they’ve not been in good form, the visitors have netted five goals in their last three matches and they will fancy their chances of least getting on the scoresheet. Both Teams to Score is 3/4 with 888Sport.

Gateshead vs WokingLive Game Odds
Two sides who were in FA Cup action meet on Saturday afternoon with Woking feeling confident following their 1-1 draw against League One outfit Peterborough. Gateshead were resoundingly beaten by upwardly mobile Luton but they are back down to a more realistic level and Steve Watson will have to pick his side up from that 5-0 loss. They have won two of their last three home matches and priced at 7/10 with Bet365.

Woking are much better at home but are enjoying a decent season under Anthony Limbrick. The boss was beaming with pride but declared that his side should have beaten Posh. They are 7/2 with Boylesports to pick up maximum points here.

Joe Ward was the FA Cup hero and has potentially helped his side to a 3rd round meeting with Aston Villa. He’s on a good goalscoring streak and is 15/4 with Bet365 to find the back of the net again here.

Leyton Orient vs SuttonLive Game Odds
Justin Edinburgh has a big job on his hands at Brisbane Road and it doesn’t get off to an easy start with the O’s hosting Sutton on Saturday afternoon. Orient lost 1-0 last weekend at the hands of Solihull Moors and he will expect much better back on home soil. They hover precariously over the relegation zone and desperately need the points here. Paddy Power have them priced up at 11/5 for success here.

Sutton sit top of the table and rarely got out of first gear last weekend as they cruised past Eastleigh. They are Evens with 888Sport to inflict further misery on Edinburgh’s men here.

Craig Dundas has netted in each of Sutton’s last two away wins, both of which ended 2-0. He is 11/5 with Bet365 to repeat the trick here.

Maidenhead vs MaidstoneLive Game Odds
Maidenhead were defeated at the hands of high-flying Wrexham at the weekend and are looking to bounce back from that disappointment here. They are now without a win in any of their last five matches but have netted 32 times this season and offer plenty of threat going forward. They’re also unbeaten in three of their last four home games and are the 5/4 favourites here with Betfred.

Maidstone took the lead but couldn’t hold on against MK Dons and it’s back to reality for the visitors here. They’ve conceded four in each of their last three matches across all competition and another high scoring affair is likely. Over 2.5 Goals is priced at 10/11 with Paddy Power.

These sides drew 1-1 when they met on the opening weekend and there isn’t much between them here. It’s 11/5 with 888Sport for this game to end all square once more.

Tranmere vs TorquayLive Game Odds
Tranmere hit four past Maidstone last weekend and there are signs of a resurgence at Prenton Park. They remain one of the favourites for the title despite their lowly position in the table and will be fancied for this match against the Gulls. As they often have been this campaign, Tranmere are the 4/7 favourites with Betfair.

Torquay battled and held onto a goalless draw with Aldershot last weekend leading Gary Owers to heap praise upon his players. It was a vastly different Torquay side to the one which folded on a regular basis during the first two months of the campaign. The Gulls held on for a precious point against the Merseyside outfit on the opening day of the season and they could frustrate once more. Paddy Power have priced up the draw at 11/4.

Torquay’s defence has improved immeasurably and they are likely to target another clean sheet whilst Tranmere are also defensively sound. Under 2.5 Goals makes appeal at 5/6 with Betfred.
