Chelmsford City Sign Two
Vanarama Conference South side Chelmsford City have signed John Sands from Canvey Island, after the strikers contract was cancelled by mutual consent late last week by the Ryman League Premier Division side.
Sands has been carrying a double hernia injury since the start of the season, although that hasn’t stopped the him finding the back of the net.
Sands joined the Gulls in October 2013, and went on to score 24 goals in forty-seven appearances after signing from Bury Town.
During the 2012/13 season he was the top goalscorer in the division with an impressive 27 league goals and 33 in all competitions, and scored 59 goals in 109 total appearances during his time with Bury.
The front man’s move comes hot on the heels of the Clarets signing Aston Villa keeper Bradley Watkins in a three-month loan deal on Friday.
The 20-year-old made 12 appearances for Villa’s U21s team last season and had a loan spell with football league side Tranmere Rovers last season but failed to make an appearance.
