Dan Holman Joins Aldershot Town On Loan
Colchester United striker Dan Holman has joined Vanarama Conference club Aldershot Town on a loan deal until November 22nd.
Holman joined Colchester from Braintree Town this summer, having been the Iron’s top goalscorer with 13 goals in the Conference last season. The 24-year-old has just completed a month-long loan spell with league rivals Wrexham, for whom he made four appearances as a substitute. Holman has also made five appearances for Colchester this season.
The Northampton-born striker played for a number of local non-league sides including, ON Chenecks, Long Buckby and Moulton Magpies as a youth team player, before moving to Cogenhoe United and later returning to Long Buckby.
After scoring 60 goals in seventy-seven games with the Bucks, either side of a short spell with Oxford City, in 2012 Dan made the switch to Conference North club Histon, where he bagged 29 goals on his way to become the club’s leading goalscorer.
His goal record inspired Braintree to pay an undisclosed fee to bring him to Cressing Road. He went on to score a total of 25 goals in seventy-seven appearances for the club.
Meanwhile 17-year-old Shots Academy midfielder Jay Welch has signed a professional deal. Welch has been with the Hampshire club since the age of 11 and a series of impressive performances this season has seen him move into Andy Scott’s first-team squad.
