Football Betting Tips Saturday 31st August 2013

With August almost over it’s time to bring back the Non-league Bets official football betting tips for another season. I decided to wait this year and let teams settle down a bit before our first bets of the season, giving me a better chance to assess the changes made by a number of clubs.

Forest Green v Alfreton - Conference Premier
Forest Green Rovers have been made favourites to win the top division of Non League football this season by the bookies, after opening at 8/1 they can now be backed at half that price at just 4/1 to pick up the league title. In buying some of the best firepower around David Hockaday has followed a trend set by past winners of the Football Conference and we’ve already seen what they can do after they beat Hyde 8-0 on the opening day. Some mixed results have followed for The Green but they have looked solid at The New Lawn, on this evidence they should provide Nicky Law’s Alfreton side with plenty to think about. Alfreton are pointless on the road from their two games so far, however they are by no means an easy game for Forest Green and the 4/1 for them to win seems a little insulting but, at the end of the day I do agree with the bookies that Forest Green will win this game and Hills 4/5 for a home win is worth backing.

Bet: Forest Green to beat Alfreton, 4/5 at William Hill

Bromley v Gosport Borough - Conference South
Gosport Borough have been promoted to the Conference South for the first time in the club’s history after winning back to back Southern League play-offs and the The Boro have been handed a hard start to life at this level. Kicking off the season against Dover Athletic followed by a game at Basingstoke Town would be hard for most teams in this division. Alex Pike’s men have worked hard and put in a dominant display against Dorchester but their inability to convert chances cost them in the end. They face a strong Bromley side at Hayes Lane on Saturday and Mark Goldberg’s men will be looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season. BetVictor are offering 4/5 that they can and this looks like the best bet in the Conference South this weekend to me.

Bet: Bromley v Gosport Borough 4/5 at BetVictor

The double on Forest Green and Bromley is 11/5 at BetVictor. That’s it for my first tips of the 2013/14 season, three short and simple bets. Good luck if you’re following and enjoy the weekend.
