Guiseley and Altrincham Make Skrill North Play-off Final
Guiseley saw off North Ferriby United at Nethermoor to book a place it this seasons play-off final. The Lions had a 2-0 advantage from the first leg and a hard-earned 1-0 win over the league runners-up in the second leg on Saturday was enough to end The Villagers promotion hopes.
Ironically, former Ferriby player Wayne Brooksby came back to haunt his old club with the only a goal on the hour mark, his powerful shot into the bottom right was too much for Ferriby keeper Adam Nicklin.
While in the other game a crowd of almost 2,000 saw Altrincham beat Hednesford Town 4-3 on aggregate after the first leg ended 2-2 at Keys Park. With 10 minutes left the Pitmen broke the deadlock, Tom Thorley headed past Stuart Coburn from close range to make it 1-0. That goal looked to have put Hednesford into the final but a late burst of goals followed.
Five minutes later Alty were back on level terms thanks to top scorer Damien Reeves who managed to get on the end of a James Walshaw cross and beat keeper Dan Crane. Extra-time now looked on the cards but the winner came just two minutes later as James Lawrie fired past Crane with the help of a little deflection. Altrincham will now host Guiseley in next Saturdays Play-Off Final.
