Managerial Change At Ramsbottom United

Ramsbottom United’s joint managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley have resigned from the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium club having been in the job for six years.

The managerial duo and coach Glenn Moses have already been announced as Evo-Stik Division One North side Salford City’s new management team.

Both Johnson and Morley were in their sixth season at Ramsbottom, having taken over with the club playing in the North West Counties League. Where they gained promotion in in their third season, following two high finishes (4th and 2nd) in the previous two seasons, they missed the Evo-Stik North play-off places during their first season by only one point.

Last season saw the club move up to their highest level of football in its history, with a second promotion in three years coming with success in the play-offs at Bamber Bridge.

Ramsbottom United have moved quickly to appoint Jon Robinson as the club’s new manager. The popular Rams legend, has scored 104 goals over six seasons for the club in his 159 starts and 34 appearances as a substitute he has made since joining the Rams in 2009. Robinson will take to the dugout for the first time on Saturday 10th January in the match against Trafford, with the Rams sitting in mid-table during their first season in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, Premier division.
